Now I can finish her off. The internal structure was mostly complete in the original setup. I have to double up two of the keel floors and fiberglass this area before the final painting phase.

READY TO REMOVE THE MOLD STRUCTURE

I originally thought I’d have a “flipping party”.  But then I thought, maybe I could do it myself. Which I did, with the aid of a rope over a cleat that I screwed to the overhead beam and a couple of old mattresses. Worked a treat!

THE PAINE 14 PAINTED AND READY TO FLIP

Finally, the months of laminating, fairing, puttying, sanding, highbuild priming, sanding, finish priming, sanding, sanding and more sanding, are over! In two short days last week I sprayed the linear polyurethane finish coats and Amelia is ready for the “turnover party.” This will enable more months of constructing the decks, floorboards, seat supports and coamings. Then finally a few more weeks of varnishing, sanding, varnishing, sanding, sanding, sanding…
